As more and more native modules switch to N-API, NAN is starting to lag behind and to impede further development of the project

This that will be solved by switching:

  • Single binary package for each OS
  • worker_threads
  • Improved I/O scheduling without starvation through Napi::ThreadSafeFunction
  • Vastly improved Electron support especially on Windows

NAPI is currently on hold because of the lack of support for class inheritance
