Well, there are serum protein measurement terms, urine protein measurement terms, csf protein measurement terms. Sometimes it is specified and sometimes not.
This is a separate term from total protein measurement.
Do you mean that protein measurement I blood and serum protein measurement should be merged?
There are several different ways of preparing blood for testing and sometimes this is necessary to be able to actually measure the analyte, but this is generally fixed for a given test and I cannot think of any case where we would want to say "serum X text" but not "plasma X test", and so it seems we should just have one each for simplicity.
I am not sure if there is a use case for having separate terms for
protein measurement
and
serum protein measurement
-- if this is not really needed, we should probably obsolete all of the serum X measurement terms? @LCCarmody
