Alter uploader settings before uploading

I need some help dynamically changing the uploader setting per file before the file gets uploaded. The settings are dependent on the response from an ajax request or a promise.

Currently what I’ve done is call uploader.start when files are added but unsure how to make the additional request in the BeforeUpload event then trigger the upload manually after I get a response from the request (preflight request).

Use case is getting the presigned url and policy for a direct S3 upload. I’ve looked at the example for S3 upload, but that’s not really working.

Any help or guidance is much appreciated.
