I haven't found a proper solution in the documentation. Maybe you could propose a better solution.

Unfortunatelly, zserio expressions do not support casting. Therefore, if it is really needed num and den to be integers, I can't see any better workaround at the moment. However, I think that better workaround is using the "casting" function.

BTW, does zserio format support 'private' functions?

You are welcome. No, private functions are not supported as well. But feel free to create an issue because of that. I am sure that there is no such idea in any issue in the backlog.
