Add option to set language via GUI

I think a dropdown list in the "General" tab would be a good place for the GUI.

I suppose following other applications with a default option "System language" (i.e. use the environment variables like it is currently the case) would be a good idea.

Sounds great, the placement also makes sense :)
Also agreed that "System language" as a default sounds good, and we could also mention what language "System language - English (US)".

Additionally we could ask this as one of the initial steps during the setup also.

When I updated to the latest version 3.15.3, my interface changed from English to Chinese, but I did not find any entrance to set the language.

Although automatic language selection based on the language settings of the operating system can solve some users' difficulties. However, when I encountered some problems, I couldn't even find the English corresponding to a certain prompt or button in the first place. In the process of solving the problem, most of the references were from English, which forced me to look up the source code to find the corresponding English, and then search for the content I wanted.

I'm wondering if there is any hope of adding a language option to the GUI.
I really wish I could see an English interface for more efficient searching when I need to find information to solve a problem.
The language I use is Chinese and it is almost difficult for me to search for helpful content in Chinese.

Well I created this issue 7 years ago, if it were a human being it would go to school by now 🤷
Unless a paying customer turns up and demands it or someone implements it on their own, creates a PR and it gets accepted, then no, it probably won't happen. There are workarounds (at least for linux) hidden somewhere in this mess of Off Topic and redundant comments.

Delete all .qm files from the i18n folder, except the language you want. If you want English (US), just delete the entire i18n folder. Unfortunately an update will reinstall the translations so you'll have to delete them again, and again, and again...
