This is not an issue maybe, so don't know if it's the right place to ask. Sorry.

Nextcloud 22.2.0 here.
I'd like to know how password expiration works before enabling it.

Example:
If I set 180 days as value of the password policy expiration through the web admin ui, what will happen then?
Users created before the 180 days will have their password expire immediately? Will they get an email?
Or, maybe, users will have their password expire 180 days after I set the value?

Anyone please could guide me through this one?

Thanks a lot.

My experience with NC 22.2.9 / Password Policy 1.12.0:

  • The timer refers to the last change of the password - the password of the users concerned therefore expires immediately.
In my opinion, this is also the better variant, otherwise all passwords would expire at the same time (after 180 days).

  • The user does not automatically receive a message that the password has expired.
