I noticed that the Space Center kerning toggle influences the pairs seen within Touché.
See a known-touching pair here (I sometimes prefer this to a gap, but that’s another topic):

with Space Center kerning on:

The only solution I found is deliberately enabling kerning for the MultiLineView.
