I am pretty sure it is possible to implement.

After you been redirected to the obsidian and pasted the content, automatically return back to the browser.
It is the best as an option for each individual template, but even as a global option it is useful.

To add on top of it: " and close the active browser tab"
it will require giving it some permissions, but "Return to browser and close active browser tab after successful clipping"
would make clipping large number of tab much easer. (When i say large amount i mean 100+)

It sounds like this would need to be added to Obsidian not to Web Clipper. You could try implementing it as a plugin that listens to Obsidian URIs.

"and close the active browser tab" is feels like a a web clipper part.
and also i assume it still requires some support from clipper with settings, if it is not applied globally.
