Add Multilist with Search

So I am able to at least render the multilist with search (bucketlist field). However I can't get it to call the bucketlist.js initialization. I overrode the code and noticed the javascript that initializes the bucket.js (Sitecore.InitBucketList) is being created, but is not being executed. None of that javascript is. It seems to have to do something with the field being in the express-subitem, but at the very least the javascript should be fired. Anyone have any insight on this?
