Do we want any caveats? The only time I've ever updated anything without explicit consent is if the user id is inconsistently formatted (e.g. underscore delimited instead of dashes), or if the coordinates are incorrectly formatted (degrees, minutes, seconds instead of decimal degrees). Alternatively, in these cases the rule could be that the editor would suggest the changes and then get consent before publishing the page. Perhaps the explicit consent in all cases is more straightforward.
@bmaitner great idea to encourage folks to update their profile - perhaps we can do a little exercise during the upcoming workshop. Curious to hear your thoughts!
@Daniel-Mietchen mentioned that OTN member should be in control of what kind of information they'd like to share on their profile.
Suggest to put in a editorial rule to only update OTN member pages after a member's consent.
