In some use cases it is desirable to parameterise the property key for an assignment, similar to how property access can be parameterised.

This could be realised through syntax such as:

SET a[$key] = $value

This was mentioned as part the presentation of Schema Validation and Evolution for Graph Databases at the fifth openCypher Implementers Meeting as the missing feature for being able to implement the work using pure Cypher without extended procedures.
