The last release was in 2019. SInce then there have been important fixes, e.g. #289.
Typical (and reasonable) doctrine for packaging systems is to package releases.
It is extra work for packagers to find and apply patches from merged PRs when there is not a release and should be one.
This is likely to lead to XyGrib being dropped from or being marked broken in packaging systems.
