My coins went into a black hole.

So I set up Wasabi wallet, clicked the "receive bitcoin" button, and deposited several thousand dollars worth into the displayed address. The deposited amount popped up and it said that it was awaiting confirmation. I went on a blockchain explorer and saw that it had confirmed, and it wasn't showing up as confirmed in my Wasabi interface, so I closed Wasabi and reopened it. And lo and behold, it said I have a zero balance. It is connected properly, there is a little white check mark in the bottom right of the screen. Scary.

Then I went to the "wallet stats" and it says number of clean addresses 84, number of used addresses 85. So there is some record of the transaction in my wallet. But my balance still says zero.

What am I doing wrong? Are my funds lost?

Hello, first thing verify that you downloaded the software from wasabiwallet.io, the official wesite.

If yes, try resync: https://docs.wasabiwallet.io/FAQ/FAQ-UseWasabi.html#how-do-i-resync-rescan-my-wallet
Don't use 0 as height, use the block before the confirmation of your tx

I figured it out! I had never completely downloaded the necessary parts of the blockchain. My VPN was getting in the way. I switched it off and everything worked out fine.

FYI, you must be on an outdated version of Wasabi, because this is not possible on new versions.
Or it shows a yellow triangle on the bottom right

Version 2.4.0.

It did show a yellow triangle on the bottom right. Oddly enough, once the blockchain synced, I was able to run Wasabi with my VPN on without further issues.

FYI the fact that you can access your wallet even non-synced when you cannot connect to the backend is a safety feature to make sure that even if the backend is unavailable you can still spend your (already synced) funds.

We are also working specifically in the direction of making the wallet independent of the backend (so no backend anymore), and this should be available in the next following months
