Where to put LaTeX Macros?

What happened, and what did you expect to happen?

When using the following macro definitions

math:
  macros:
    '\R': '\mathbb{R}'
    '\N': '\mathbb{N}'
    '\C': '\mathbb{C}'
    '\boldx': '\mathbf{x}'
    '\dobs': '\mathbf{d}_\text{obs}'

the macro $\R$ give the desired result but the macro $\C$ does not work.

What version of Jupyter Book are you running?

v2.0.0a0

What Operating System are you using?

Linux

Please remove the macros: indentation. Is that documented somewhere?

Thank you I did remove it and have to admit that it does not recognize my frontmatter macros at all

math:
    '\R': '\mathbb{R}'
    '\N': '\mathbb{N}'
    '\C': '\mathbb{C}'
    '\boldx': '\mathbf{x}'
    '\dobs': '\mathbf{d}_\text{obs}'

seems to not be recognized and $\R$ is already predefined. I could not find a working example anywhere. Thanks for your help!

Thanks! Those I found as you could have guessed from the macros I am using but it does not seem to work in my case, which is likely my fault but it is unclear what is not defined correctly. I was looking for a whole .yml file with those definitions so I could identify my mistake.

You can put the macros in the myst.yml:

Or in the frontmatter block in your article.md:

  '\x': '...'
---

This macro is only available on this page $\x$.
