Warning message for deprecated path reference and old protocol attribute in Nuclei v2.9.3

Hello everyone,

We wanted to let you know about the latest change in Nuclei v2.9.3, which includes a warning message for users when an outdated path reference to load deprecated path structure is used or when templates with old protocol attributes are used.

Problem

The warning message will look like this:

[WRN] Found 25 templates loaded with deprecated paths, update before v2.9.5 for continued support.
[WRN] Found 2 templates loaded with deprecated protocol syntax, update before v2.9.5 for continued support.

This message is added to inform users about using outdated path references and protocol attributes, which may cause issues when running Nuclei scans. If you see this warning message, we recommend updating your custom or private templates before Nuclei v2.9.5 for continued support.

Please note that this warning message is added for users running custom/private templates, as templates in public templates will be automatically updated with nuclei-template project release of v9.5.0.

Note:

Please note that the current nuclei version (v2.9.3) does have backward compatible support for older/outdated formats, so all the existing templates will work as they are until the support for older formats gets removed, which is set for Nuclei v2.9.5

Solution

1. update nuclei to the latest version, use nuclei -update option or see other option to update nuclei here.
2. Use nuclei -reset option to reset nuclei configs and to remove old/outdated templates.
