Have the focus on the search bar by default on our homepage so that users can quickly start typing something instead of clicking on the bar first. #4384

Core problem

This is an idea for a possible improvement of Search on the homepage so that it's easier for users to just start typing what they're looking for instead of having to "opt into" the search bar.

Proposed solution

The search bar would look the same as it does now just with the addition of the blinking cursor. The user can immediately start typing a query. If instead, they click on the bar, then we could show the featured searches

Context

This was a feature request from Pablo R.

For this to work we need to track whether the user has interacted with the input after it has been added to the DOM.
