Control over username created when registering #5
Comments
Sent you an email Luke. I'll update/close this issue once we've resolved via email. |
Hi Perry, installed your excellent plug-in for testing and had the same question (about the possibility of controlling — or in our case, passing on the email address as — the username created in registration). If it's possible to post any updates before you close this issue, it would be much appreciated. |
I also would really like this feature. Usernames cannot be changed in Wordpress once created can they? So they are stuck with As for the privacy issue of reading the email address, I am currently using Google and it clearly states on the consent page that you are granting access to the bare minimum "basic account information". Is there really any expectation when using a social media site for authentication/authorization that you aren't entering your email address? I think not. |
I also would really like this feature. Any chance it's coming soon? |
My 3 penny's: |
Still would love this. Any hopes? |
Have some hope!! I haven't been in the WordPress scene lately, but this plugin has really been begging my attention. I finished some major milestones with another project of mine (Rapid Server) so I'm feeling it's time to give that a break and focus on my other projects a bit. Control over the username should be an easy feature to add, I hope to jump back into WP-OAuth some time this week although I have said that before hehe :) So many good things to program, so little time. |
awesome! I'm excited for the features :) I'll be using the plugin on a few more sites once it comes out! |
Is this plugin still maintained? It should be possible to fill-in username, email and display name upon registration based on OAuth response received, no? "User6" is not really a valid identity, especially if a user registered on your site to post on a forum or leave a comment. No other OAuth integration I know requires user to rename self appropriately upon being logged in. |
Hi, |
I have the same result when delegating OAuth authentication to Google. Authentication is OK, then choose 'Yes' when Google prompts to share profile information, but then nothing appears to be saved in the Wordpress user database except 'user3' user name. Is something hidden in WP-OAuth 0.4.1 plugin or Wordpress that we don't see user information in the GUI ? Perry if you're looking for contributors to the project can you point us at the location in WP-OAuth source code where we can add OAuth calls and query/save minimum user information using the various APIs provided by LinkedIn and the other OAuth players? |
Very happy with the plugin, exactly what I was looking for. Grateful and excited for this feature, too! |
Is it possible to control the wordpress username created when registering? In testing, registering via linkedin created the user 'user6'. In case it is relevant, I have buddypress installed and ultimately want to integrate the two. Wordpress version 4.1. Multisite enabled is enabled but I only need the plugin for one site initially.
Ultimately, I want to be able to query the linkedin API for the registered user. Is any link stored on the WP side which enables me to identify the user on LinkedIn?
