Does Firefox Panorama make the grouping ability of VerticalTabs obsolete?

I still prefer grouping them that way instead of Panorama, 'cause I like having them on the side bar and being able to check with one look.

On the other hand, it would be nice if it was a bit smarter (for people who need it to), regarding opening links for tabs from within a certain group.

ie: I have a group "GOOGLE DOCS" which holds the google docs main page, and all documents I'm currently working on or need reference too.

But I waste alot of time opening up a document and dragging the tab under the new group, etc.

Is there some way to have new tabs opened from within a certain group, keep themselves in that particular group?

All good points.

Right now VT groups and Panorama groups are separate concepts. I'd like to change VT to recognise Panorama groups, though. As for opening tabs, I'd like to support the behaviour you suggest, eventually. It's all on the list, just need to find the time to implement it :)

Ha, hadn't thought about doing it that way: Panorama Groups == VT Groups.

I'd like to see that :)

Might get removed anyway (or at least outsourced in to an extension): https://bugzil.la/836758
