Database backups

We will be using PostgreSQL for all our modules. The database will be deployed on our cluster. We still have to determine if we will have HA setup for production or not but for now it will be a single node. The database backup procedure is still unknown. So far we know that we want an off-site backup (to Amazon S3, for example) and we do not want to rely on a volume backup since this is not preferred for databases.
