Include multipage PDF in PDF rendering with Typst

Description

When we want to include a multipage PDF into a Quarto document for rendering in PDF, it’s possible to use the \includepdf command from the pdfpages package.

Is there an equivalent to this command when we do rendering with Typst?

If there is no way to include a multipage PDF when rendering with Typst, is it possible to do some automated post-processing with the same result instead?

In my understanding, the post-render: option exists only for projects, but I read somewhere that it could be added some day to single Quarto documents. Is it available right now?

Did you try the markdown syntax to include PDF? (if it does not work, it's likely because it's not implemented on Pandoc Typst writer or that there is no Typst command to do that)

I don't know what you are referencing here.
A project is defined by _quarto.yml. Since 1.4 (or 1.5), "single documents" are projects in many aspects (not all yet).

I tried the markdown syntax you mention and got this error:

[typst]: Compiling test.typ to test.pdf...error: unknown image format

Also thank you for pointing to the ability to use raw LaTeX/Typst, it could be useful. I understand better that it is more a Typst question than a Quarto one. I read the discussion on the forum you were pointing to, and apparently there’s no easy solution for the moment to include PDF in Typst.

What I mentioned about the fact that the post-render: option is for projects only, but that documents would behave closer to projects in the future, was mentioned in this discussion about post-rendering a qmd document in 2024.

As I don’t want to include a PDF as a single image, but just basically merge a multipage PDF at the end of my Quarto document, I thought it could be done as post-processing if Typst offers no possibility for this. This is why I was interested in the post-render: option for single qmd documents.
