ChoiDujourNX skip gc reader update?

can choidujountNX be updated to skip the gc reader firmware update to avoid it being lost if you're on lower fw than 9.0 later on?
because it seems they are probably going to keep upping the firmware requirement for reader to prevent cart dumps
