Is it possible to build the root filesystem with squashfs to achieve having a read-only rootFS ?

Hello, i'm trying to build a read-only file system for Raspberry PI4, for this I want to set the RootFS type as squashfs and mount it in a squashfs partition, is it possible to achieve this and setup the SW update with RAUC ?

You can use any type of partition image with RAUC. You need to make sure that the slot type is just raw (there is no dedicated 'squashfs' type) and that the image has the suffix .squashfs. This will let RAUC use the proper update handler for writing raw images to partitions.
