We are looking for a passionate software engineer with experience in front-end development that does not shy away from back-end code! If you want to help us build the next generation of Expedia's trip management experience, then read on (or go straight to the source here 😄)

About us

Expedia is the leading online travel agency, connecting millions of people to travel all over the world. Being a purely online business, technology is at our core.

With offices in over 30 countries, we pride ourselves in our people and strive for an inclusive and diverse workplace. Our modern Brisbane office is in the heart of the CBD, close to public transport and offering convenient facilities.

About the Role

As part of the Post-Purchase team, you will be working with a team of 25 engineers located in Brisbane and Gurgaon. Our primary focus is to build a modern trip management experience for our millions of customers using cutting-edge technology including React, NodeJS and GraphQL.

Must haves

  • You have a love for solving tough problems and an understanding that making a great solution also needs to scale to help as many customers as possible.
  • You are passionate about front-end development - confident in modern JavaScript including ES6+, emerging W3C standards and Progressive Web Application development with React.
  • You have experience with semantic HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), building responsive, mobile-first experiences and a deep care for layout, cross-browser compatibility and multi-device support.
  • You have some experience in software engineering using patterns, algorithms and frameworks such as Spring MVC in Java or similar.
  • You are aware of Web Accessibility, the WCAG guidelines and assistive technology such as screen readers would be beneficial.
  • You're used to using Git version control system or similar.

Nice-to-haves

  • You can give examples of focus on continuous improvement (e.g. continuous integration, continuous delivery, process automation, Lean/Agile methodologies.)
  • You've worked with or have a keen interest in AWS/Cloud infrastructure.
  • Some experience with GraphQL and TypeScript.
  • Contributions to Open-source projects.

If you have a hunger to make a difference with one of the most loved travel brands in the world and to work in the dynamic travel industry, this is the job for you!
