It would be cool if people could get access to the archive somehow. Otherwise they can not see material from other years.

An archivesniffer role which grants one access to all channels in the archive

Describe alternatives you've considered
Gaining the role of the course maybe is sufficient to get the channel, which then shall stay in the archive maybe?

maybe create archivesniffers table in db, which gives every student in the table access to the Archive group on discord

we somehow need to get the knowledge what the archive category is
maybe the bot creates a default archive (just like default semester) and the users have to adapt or we make another admin command to set the archive channel
