I'm using ARandR but I can't mirror my laptop screen to the TV (by HDMI) excepting if I change the resolution of the HDMI to the same my laptop has and put it on. So it's quite absurd.

I'd love to help, but I haven't been using Kubuntu for years, don't use xrandr anymore and don't even have a Linux machine around to check, sorry.
