2020.12.14: Working Group Meeting

Atish Patra edited this page Dec 14, 2020 · 6 revisions

Topics discussed:

  1. SBI spec version -- There is new version of PMU extension available. It's just a rebase on top of current master.

-- Mark suggested that security working group should review the PMU extension before it is merged.

-- v0.3 should include PMU extension. Should it be part of Level 0 platform ?

-- Can we tag it as v1.0 if that's what going to be included in platform specification ?

-- We should document the remaining TODO items for SBI specification.

  2. Platform specification -- We need to have a tentative timeline for different levels of platform specification

-- Can we include AIA in level 0 spec ?

-- Most of the members present today agreed that we can focus on what exists today (i.e. PLIC) for level 0. -- AIA can be targeted towards the next level.

-- Paul suggested that the stake holders from distro(i.e. debian/fedora/ubuntu/OpenSuse) and hardware vendors (SiFive/Microchip/Alibaba) should be taken into confidence when we have the actual spec. This makes a lot of sense. Otherwise, we may end up in a situation where no hardware vendors is compliant with the spec.

-- Few discussion about detailed definition of RVA19. Mark hinted that it should be available early 2021. It may be renamed to RVA20.

  3. Mark also declared that CTO office has a budget to buy few HiFive Unmatched boards. It will be distributed to anybody working on open source software development for RISC-V. The obvious ones are distro folks.

  4. Nothing related to hypervisor was discussed today.
