Permissions for NIKKEI400

System was supposed to place a trade for NIKKEI400 this morning and failed due to trading permissions.

I checked the CFTC site and it seems to be an allowed instrument. I have a market data sub for Japan Osaka Exchange which lists the instrument. What am I missing? Thanks!

Edit: is it that it doesn’t specifically say Nikkei index 400 “futures contract”?

Well, that error message sure sounds like the CFTC doesn't allow it.

Since it says to contact customer support, why don't you try that.

I'm getting the same issue this morning; I just submitted a ticket with IB. Was this ever resolved on your end?

Could it be that you haven’t requested permission to trade asian futures from your account settings? Also check whether it is an exchange holiday today in OSE. Best regards, Emre

Japan stock market is closed today for holiday I believe.

I never solved it. I assumed it was restricted and never opened a ticket with IB. Please share their answer once you get it. Thanks.

IB got back to me with the following response. Guess this will just stay in the restricted markets bucket for now.

JPNK400 is not an approved future product by the CFTC for US residents, non-US futures products are only tradable for US residents if they are specifically approved by the CFTC.
