Hey @NolonQ, thank you for raising this issue with us. After a first review we noticed that we will require the Debug Info for further investigation. However, you haven't supplied any Debug Info in your report. Please collect Debug Info from Portmaster while the reported issue is present. |
Thanks for your effort, i use the librewolf / mullvad browser. |

Can i also exclude countrys from the SPN, for example i wish not to connect to the US how do i do that? For a specific software only or as a global spn rule? |
What client are you using? also what "quality" of torrents are you using? both can have a huge impact. Also because SPN does not allow incoming connections, some torrents block you as well, since you are only leeching and not seeding at all. |
If you are not downloading torrents I guess your speeds for normal downloads are as expected? So it probably is related to the Torrent client |
qBittorrent |
ok, my torrent client is qbit as well, but to be hones I really only use it for the occasional Linux iso for VMs when testing Portmaster and so on. So my torrent needs are maybe different to others. But we have people on the discord who are also using qbit and don't have issues with it. it probably boils down to the amount of torrents you are simultaneously downloading. Can you try not running all and just some and then see where your limit is. again there are multiple factors here, it might also be the torrent itself in some cases that block you or throttle you because you are only leeching and not seeding, it might be that the torrent is not well maintained and that you are getting lot of bad requests, which then can cause a rate limit response and so on.... so the easiest way is to start the torrents one by one, and if something break try another torrent |
Thanks for getting back to me, quick update on the situation the download speeds with qbittorrent appear to be stable now however the bug where i am unable to access the internet with any application that has not already been opened while torrenting presits, for example i was connected to a discord voicecall while using the spn, then i opened qbittorrent and started downloading, i got disconnected from discord, i opened my browser but couldnt reach any site, i attempted to rejoin discord but no connection was established even after several attempts, and all this happened while the download was still going. i did read your comment and want to mention this, your idea appears to be that because of the massive amount of torrent connections thats why i lose connection to other programs, could be but i dont think so because if the connection was "overloaded" there would be something like "timed out" but there isnt, instead whatever software i open instantly fails to connected as if there was no internet at all. i want add some notice here, mullvad vpn is compatible with the portmaster, but this only goes for as long as you DONT use the spn because when i use the spn and start mullvad, portmaster shows a notification "failed to connected to spn" and retrys to connect in short periods of time but keeps failing in an eternal loop, i disabled the spn for the mullvad app but this didnt resolve anything. |
Another question where i need your assistance, blocking the US as a whole would probably result in most of the internet being broken. I want to only exclude the US from the SPN. I keep getting nodes that are located in the US and could potentialy capture traffic, but worse i get US DNS-providers which for privacy is not tollerable. |
When using SPN the bottleneck is not always the internet connection itself, because each connection gets its own onion rout it is also taxing on other system resources. On normal PC use this is barely noticeable because our machines are usually fast and the amount of connections reasonable, but torrents throw a wrench in that system because the have so many connections. |
What would you like to add or change?:
I've recently bought the SPN for a month, now i'm encountering several issues.
Discord randomly disconnects or is extremely laggy and it sometimes takes 10+ minutes until connection is stable again.
Can i manually select the nodes being used for a specific program, for example i would preffer to use only european nodes for discord because currently my connections uses 4 us nodes which explains the massive connection issues.
Also before i opened this "suggestions" here i attempted to use your provided link to "Support Requests & Community" however reddit gives me a "blocked" prompt, since using the SPN i am unable to access reddit, it appears your IP has been blacklisted.
Thanks in advance.
Why do you and others need this?:
