That would be really great as many programs that work with the systray do that and having both minimized and systray states seem in my opinion useful for programs you are more or less currently using and programs banished to background.

Hi, as TBTray 2.0 relies on the native Thunderbird tray icon, I can no longer influence what happens on regular minimize actions. And as mentioned in the readme, I sadly don't have the time and capacity to add features to this project that I won't be using myself, so you'll have to fork or find someone to implement this change for you (it can be done by taking the old TBTray 0.10 code and not relying on Thunderbird's own tray icon).
