Talk Title:

Frame by Frame: Bringing the original iPhone animation app to the web

Talk Description:

While just about everything else has moved to the web in some form, camera apps have remained the strict domain of native. Has the mobile web finally caught up? I recently attempted to recreate my 14 year old camera app GIF SHOP as a modern PWA, and the journey revealed both how far we've come and what challenges remain. Along the way we'll also explore the birth story of short-form looping videos as a medium for creative expression and why it wasn't an intuitive leap at the time.

Disclaimer: While this talk discusses a product, it focuses on its historical significance and experimental recreation rather than any commercial product.
