Improve Dev Setup for Elektra Development Across Support Groups
This task addresses the need to enhance the development setup of Elektra, particularly to allow colleagues from other support groups to set up Elektra for development without being blocked by access restrictions tied to secret credentials.
Problem Statement:
We currently use a technical user (dashboard user) whose credentials are only available within our support group, making it difficult for other groups to contribute to Elektra development.
To make the development process more inclusive and collaborative across different support groups, we propose two potential options:
Proposed Solutions:
Remove the Technical User Requirement:
Eliminate the need for secret credentials to start Elektra, allowing everyone to set up and run the development environment without requiring access to the dashboard user's credentials. This needs to be researched to determine if it is feasible to remove it.
Share Credentials Across Support Groups:
Explore a method for securely sharing the technical user’s secret credentials with other support groups, enabling them to set up Elektra for development.
We might need to reach out to Dimitros for his input and guidance on how best to handle this securely.
Next Steps:
Review these options and decide on the best approach for enhancing the development setup.
If we choose to proceed with Option 2, we will coordinate with Dimitros to gather his feedback on sharing credentials securely across support groups.
