I am requesting to add deciduous dentition as an inventory option for recording the dentition of juvenile individuals. This would include adding teeth 51-70, as described in "Standards for Data Collection From Human Skeletal Remains" (Buikstra and Ubelaker, 1994). This classification format corresponds with the current one being used for adult dentition, teeth 1-32.
Not only are sub-adult individuals present in the historical medical teaching collection I am working with, but I believe that they would also be present in mass graves where mass causality events had occurred. Adding the option to record deciduous dentition would help accurately distinguish between adult and deciduous teeth within an individual and between individuals.
