According to GDPR the usage of the Google Fonts API (without consent) is not allowed. Therefore the theme should find a way to use Google Fonts without violating GDPR. Probably asking user for consent is the best option. Not sure whether the theme needs to do something or whether this is all done by the website using the theme.

An alternative would be to use the fonts locally. However this might cause problems with page load performance.

Maybe the theme should provide a setting to so the user can select how to handle this issue.
