About Me

I am currently a Principal Application Systems Analyst in the department of Oncology Care & RI Systems at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. I am the technical lead of the Tumor Measurement Initiative (TMI) of the Institute for Data Science in Oncology (IDSO). The goal for TMI is to build an institutional framework that supports standardized, automated, quantitative, imaging-based tumor measurements across each patient’s treatment to reduce uncertainty in determining tumor progression and empower physicians to adapt treatments more quickly, if needed.

I earned my Ph.D. in biomedical engineering (BME) at City University of New York (CCNY) in 2009, specializing in biomedical image processing, signal processing, software design & integration, and AI/ML.

Experience

MD Anderson Principal Application Systems Analyst, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Jul 2021 -- Present

Designing and managing the process of building automated image interpretation tools and the extraction of tumor measurements to fulfil the TMI (Tumor Measurement Initiative) objective

  • Served as Tumor Measurement Initiative (TMI) automation lead to build an institutional platform to support standardized, automated, quantitative imaging-based tumor measurement across each patient’s journey to advance multidisciplinary, data-driven, high precision cancer treatment.
  • Designing and managing the process of building automated image interpretation tools and the extraction of tumor measurements.
  • Working with internal and external teams that are developing specific image analysis algorithms and coordinating these developments in a fashion that supports scientific/technical evaluation and integration into the broader TMI effort.
  • Participating in developing institutional machine learning model management solutions and serving as the imaging technical subject matter expert.
  • Collaborating with researchers and clinicians working on healthcare information systems (e.g., EPIC, PACS, RayStation, etc.) in the capture and curation of multidimensional data and developing computational modeling approaches for medical imaging.
  • Participating in the coordination of machine learning model management from development to clinical deployment.
  • Managing the data scientist team and ensure the alignment with the overall priority.

NEUROCRANIAL ELECTROSTIMULATION MODELS, SYSTEMS, DEVICES AND METHODSNEUROCRANIAL ELECTROSTIMULATION MODELS, SYSTEMS, DEVICES AND METHODS, US 20120245653 · Issued Sep 27, 2012

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for developing transcranial electrical stimulation protocols are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes the actions of accepting an image model of target tissue, obtaining a forward model having a first electrode configuration and first electrical stimulation parameters based on electrical stimulation of the target tissue, accepting electrode configuration changes or electrical stimulation parameter changes resulting in a second electrode configuration or second electrical stimulation parameters, determining an optimized tissue model using a least square methodology and based on the second electrode configuration or second electrical stimulation parameter changes, comparing the optimized tissue model with a desired outcome, and providing a confirmation of the optimized model with the desired outcome.
