Experienced the same issue, which means a significant amount of time manually editing workbooks post-migration to re-hide the views. Would love to see this change!

I can echo that this is very much an annoyance post migration, without quite a bit of hassle connecting up to metadata api and making changes via hooks to hide these (I think that was the suggested fix from the office hours call) there is quite a bit of manual work and it would be great to have a built in fix through the SDK

Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) have flagged this as a serious issue. They are migrating 126 sites and 7500 workbooks, so we can't take a manual approach to fix this.

This has been a major issue for us. The workarounds of using the metadata api / manual lists are not always feasible due to access and can include a large amount of manual work, especially when doing a multiple site migration with many views.
Could potentially be fixed by changing the REST API to:

  • report all views with a hidden/visible flag
  • accept a view list on publish of the visible views as opposed to the current implementation of needing the list of hidden views
