I'm Shubham Karpa, 26 year old (and presently unemployed) and I belong to Lahaul-Spiti (Himachal Pradesh). I've very recently discovered your videos and really appreciate the content that you put online, technical as well as the other stuff.
My situation right now is a bit complicated so the question may be a little lengthy. Please bear with me!
I graduated in CSE in 2019 from Jaypee Institute (Noida) where I got placed with Infosys. I worked there for 1.5 years in a support role and resigned in December 2020 because I wanted to prepare for UPSC Civil Services and also because I wasn't enjoying the work at all at Infosys. After 2 unsuccessful attempts at UPSC, I decided to get back in the industry in July 2022 and since then I have been preparing for job interviews. I've also appeared for a few government exams for IT role in the past few months (I gave SEBI's Grade-A IT exam but fell short of a few marks after my final interview).
I've mainly been preparing Data Structures and Algorithms, practicing questions from GeeksForGeeks and studying MySQL, as I did earlier for job interviews. I've previously worked with Python and Django so I've been doing that as well and completed 2 basic courses from Udemy on Django web-development and REST API development. I have been actively applying for Jr. Python Developer, Web developer and even Business Analyst roles, but I have been gravely unsuccessful in getting any interview calls so far.
I stand at a crossroads and I feel clueless as to what next should I do with my life and with my time. Most of my time these days is spent learning Python API development and doing DS/Algo . . . . . . . . and applying to and worrying about jobs.
Your videos convince do me to give Javascript and UI development a try, but that would mean an investment of 6 more months (by then I would be 27) and switching again from Python to JS. Right now I'm fairly comfortable with Python which makes me even more confused about taking this decision to switch to JS. I have also thought of going for Master's by preparing for GATE side-by-side after I get a job. Would that be a wise decision?
I want to know what advice you have for me, to at least get my life on the right track? Should I go for Master's or should I change my domain and switch to UI? Or should I continue to put my efforts in getting a job as a Python developer?
I really appreciate your time and hope to hear your answer on this.
