Consider a history 'depth' setting for the number of old snapshot revisions to keep before they are deleted. This allows rapid restoration of volumes within the 'keep' window such as when --use-snapshot is used.

Such a feature probably shouldn't be used with monitor as the space savings from monitor would not materialize.
