Unable to use the multiple reusable group on the same page inside flexible content field

I was hoping to use the same group multiple times on the same page. My use case is an action/button module where a user can select different settings based on they want to link to, a post, a page, or an external location. The issues seems to be that each instance is being over written by the last instance on the page.

I am trying to nest a flexible content field inside another flexible content field. This can be done manually by creating a sub fields in the initial flexible content (named the same everywhere I need it) and all of it's sub fields are names the same respectively, somehow they are limited by the scope of the initial flexible content field and do not intersect.
