I am trying cosmic-kinoite:40 in a qemu VM, and it doesnt work at all for some reason.

I wonder why that would be.

cosmic-greeter is flickering black and then disapperaring, flickering black and disappearing, nothing shows. Exiting to TTY I disabled it and enabled SDDM, it showed the COSMIC session but launching that also just flickered.

I am currently rebasing to -base to see if this might be VM related.

also happening on cosmic-base:40 in that VM. Normal virt-manager kvm qemu VM on Fedora 39.

Have reproduced this bug as well using cosmic-base in a kvm qemu VM (using VirtManager) on Aurora Developer Edition (Fedora 40).

Worth noting that there is currently an issue with COSMIC with VMs that likely stems from cosmic-comp not currently supporting software rendering. This is a known issue with COSMIC, but I will see if I can make an upstream issue, if one doesn't currently exist

Here's the upstream issue relating to virtio (for when running in a VM): pop-os/cosmic-comp#136

Experiencing this on a bare metal install, as well. When you enter a password, the screen flickers to terminal, errors quickly flash, and then you're back at cosmic-greeter.

The last screen of errors reads:

thread 'main' panicked at greetd/src/session/worker.rs:277:14:
unable to exec: EACCES
note: run with 'RUST_BACKTRACE=1' environment variable to display a backtrace
