Heavy Lag When Running Hyperpower With Chrome, Visual Studio Code, and other javascript applications

I originally posted in the Hyper github page, but I found out it was this extension that was the culprit instead. My issue is that I'm experiencing heavy performance lag when hyperpower is enabled alongside any application that also runs javascript (Chrome, Firefox, Visual Studio Code). All applications will freeze for ~5 seconds every few seconds when hyperpower is running concurrently with these applications, but when I disable hyperpower the performance issue goes away. I know this extension isn't at 1.0 release yet, but can we get a fix for this?
