Infinispan in recent versions supports zero-capacity nodes. This means they do not own any data and thus state transfer is skipped.

This could be useful for Vert.x deployments:

  • faster startup and shutdown
  • improved memory footprint

See https://issues.redhat.com/browse/ISPN-13506 about why a little work is needed on our side.

Also, we should update the doc and run the test suite with zero capacity nodes.
