Looking at the low activity in this project, I'm wondering if anyone is still using it?

There's now a great alternative with "ddev" which is Open Source (Apache License) as well, and it currently gains a lot of momentum. Also, I couldn't find any features which are missing compared to this project.

Wouldn't it make sense to recommend "ddev" for new projects, and stop this project?

I personally doesn't use ddev now. I have some problems using it with some stuff like syncing remote to local (not only TYPO3 projects).

The boilerplates are currently not updated often. I consider them being only examples of what you can do with our docker images. Compared to ddev which builds PHP on demand (which requires a tremendous amount of time) we have everything pre-built already.

In our company we built our own boilerplates which heavily extend the webdevops php boilerplate.

I tried to get a TYPO3 v8 setup and run in some issues. Also the quick start documentation could be more detailed.
After your post i tried to use ddev and got it up and running without any issues in few minutes.
I find that this project here can still be a great resource, but only if somebody keeps maintaining it.
I for myself will use ddev.

@cepheiVV That was my point, it needs to be maintained. As long as this is the case, fine.
