Sorry —
As of now I have not found a way to correct this bug on any browser based on Chromium (such as Yandex Browser).

Google Docs uses different methods to display the document depending on the browser (<canvas> on Chromium and inline <svg> on Firefox). There is a fix for the photo bug that previously worked, and I have left this in Dark Docs in case it works again[but I have removed it since M3].

I know two possible workarounds for the photo bug:

  • switch to Firefox or another browser based on its source code, or
  • show the document in light or dim mode (click on the Stylus icon, then the gear icon next to Dark Docs, choose “None” or “Dim” as the Document filter).

Another workaround this photo bug is to use a user agent switcher extension and change the user agent to the latest user agent from Firefox. This will un-invert the images, but text on your document may appear in the wrong font and I can’t do anything about that.

The result is something like this:

image

  • The user agent string I’m using is Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/112.0
  • The extension I’m using is User-Agent Switcher. This is not an endorsement and I’m not sure that it’s safe to use; only use browser extensions you trust.
