In place replace LocalTuya

I'm using the original rospogrigio's LocalTuya version. How can I replace with this fork keeping the current configuration ?

Hello, I always recommend take a backup before do that, what I did before is

1. Go to HACS -> Integrations -> Delete localtuya and click ignore in the message that will popup.
2. Add the fork to HACS -> Install the fork.
3. Restart homeassistant.

I also had Rospogrigio's LocalTuya and I couldn't insert a GU10 bulb.
With your repository and following your instructions I can now see it and make it work.

I've tried this but it failed for the latest version of localtuya: v2024.7.0. What worked for me was installing v3.2.5.1 on step 2. After the restart all devices were there. Afterwards I updated to v2024.7.0 without any problems.

hmmm interesting it is still working for me on v2024.7.0. This fork fixed the issue where entities become unavailable after restart as well. I just tested all 28 switches and lights before editing this reply. Even the power monitoring is working.

I just installed this version straight over the top of rospogrigio's version.
This repo replaced all the old components, and kept the original devices.
I can now add Zigbee devices to HA!

(I am asking because I am considering switching from local-tuya and have Zigbee devices set up in ZHA)

I did this too and the old devices work fine, only annoyance is that HACS still shows both Local Tuya integrations as being installed.

Yea so while in place replacement does indeed work, HA still thinks you're using the old one so it follows any update schedule that the original puts out.

Worried about setting up the devices again. There were some I had to add manually and it's going to break many things if I do it wrong

Took the plunge. Uninstalled both instances without removing integrations (click on ignore), then installed this one again. Works as expected.

oh i don't use HACS, instead i clone using git and use symlinks for custom_components.

Issue: rospogrigio#1879

1. Create a backup

2. Open this link (This makes it possible to replace the official integration with the fork in step 6)

3. Enter your Home Assistant URL and go on

4. Add this repository so that it can also be downloaded later in step 6.

5. Remove the official Local Tuya Integration in HACS via the 3 dots on the far right - Attention: Deleting the LocalTuya from within Devices&Services deletes all entities!

   It is not possible to successfully use both integrations at the same time!

6. Download this (forked) Local Tuya Integration in HACS via the 3 dots on the far right

7. Restart Home Assistant

That was all. The change should now have worked successfully and the entities should all work again.

I can only see rospogrigio's LocalTuya in 'Devices and Services', not in HACS (running HAOS on a NUC). Any suggestions for configuration steps, since I can't delete the integration from HACS? Thanks!

Fantastic guide, I also had to disable the IPv6 to be able to make my connection to the Tuya Cloud API but that is probably just something that changed within my network.
