Connecting to memsql with binary protocol off #174

Is there a way to turn the binary protocol off in mariaex? Memsql uses the same drivers as mariadb/mysql, but does not support the binary protocol. They do have an option to turn it on, but it is in beta, and it is unreliable. I am advised by them to turn off the binary protocol.
