What happened?

When enabling system theme in settings, the sidebar becomes bright grey - which is fine, but the foreground colour remains white as well, making sidebar completely unreadable. You can change colours to something toxic red to at least be able to read the text, but I would prefer not do that and rather have text properly adjust to theme and colour you use?

Screenshot of Zen with sidebar open. The sidebar is light grey, but the text on it has white colour, making it hard to read

This cannot be reproduced when switching to light theme specifically:

Screenshot of Zen with sidebar open. The sidebar is still light grey, however the window frame changed its colour to grey too, and sidebar now uses black for primary text and dark grey for secondary text

So system theme is badly broken, which makes Zen somewhat annoying to use, as I have everything switch to light mode automatically depending on the time of the day, and I'll have to manually intervene with Zen 💔

Reproducible?

  • I have checked that this issue cannot be reproduced on Mozilla Firefox.
