In older versions of AdGuard Browser Extension, if you had it installed along with one of the AdGuard desktop apps (AdGuard for Windows or AdGuard for Mac), the extension took upon itself the functions of AdGuard Assistant — a tool that helped manage the filtering right from the web page. At the same time, the ad blocking itself was completely under of the desktop app's control, the extension and its settings played no role in that. | ||
If you decide to install both the extension and the standalone program to your PC, you may encounter some compatibility issues. The problem is that in some cases the application and the extension can interfere with each other. Some websites will no longer be protected by the desktop program and will only be protected by the extension, which has fewer options. Also, the filtering for some websites can work incorrectly. Therefore, we don't recommend using the extension together with the application. |
