Duplicated views: Force WP Admin view for Categories, Tags, Portfolio, and Testimonials

Proposed changes:

Forces the WP Admin view (classic view) for users participating in the duplicated views experiment on the following screens:

• Posts > Tags
• Posts > Categories
• Portfolio > All Projects
• Testimonials > All Testimonials

Other information:

• Have you written new tests for your changes, if applicable?
• Have you checked the E2E test CI results, and verified that your changes do not break them?

Testing instructions:

• Go to the placeholder experiment page: 22124-explat-experiment
• Assign yourself to the treatment variation using the bookmarklets
• Apply these changes to a WP.com site with the default admin interface
• Make sure the all the menu items below point to WP Admin:
  • Posts > Tags
  • Posts > Categories
  • Portfolio > All Projects
  • Testimonials > All Testimonials

• To test on WoA, go to the Plugins menu on a WordPress.com Simple site. Click on the "Upload" button and follow the upgrade flow to be able to upload, install, and activate the Jetpack Beta plugin. Once the plugin is active, go to Jetpack > Jetpack Beta, select your plugin, and enable the update/duplicate-views-cpt-taxonomies branch.

  • For jetpack-mu-wpcom changes, also add define( 'JETPACK_MU_WPCOM_LOAD_VIA_BETA_PLUGIN', true ); to your wp-config.php file.

• To test on Simple, run the following command on your sandbox:

  bin/jetpack-downloader test jetpack-mu-wpcom-plugin update/duplicate-views-cpt-taxonomies

Works nicely for me on simple, atomic

Just to be absolutely clear, it doesn't redirect - that is Automattic/wp-calypso#97231 and the view switcher is still there and works - that is Automattic/wp-calypso#97395
