Release v2.2.2
Windows 64-bit binaries.
NEW: auto-updates
- if you have
autoUpdate=yes
in yourMinimalistMediaPlayer.conf
file, when you open the About Box (ctrl-[A]), MMP will check for a new release and download the latest "...full.zip" file if you don't already have it. - The version you are currently running will be backed-up/renamed to "MinimalistMediaPlayer vN_N_N.exe", named after its version.
- If this rename is successful, MMP will extract MinimalistMediaPlayer.exe from the zip file.
- The About Box will report that a restart is required.
Note: I do not know how this will behave on Windows installations which have User Access Control (UAC) set on (UAC has been turned off on all my Windows systems almost from the time it was first introduced). This is especially true if you have installed MMP to "Program Files", or somewhere equally delicate from Windows' point of view.
I am relying on my MMP users to notify me of any problems with the auto-update mechanism. It is a very straight-forward process, but Microsoft Windows has a very long and notorious reputation in IT development departments for getting in the way of the straight-forward :P. Please feel free to give me feedback over at the Discussions page. You can, of course, manually extract the .exe from the zip file if the auto-update process fails to do it.
Note: the auto-update process doesn't yet update the other files (e.g. the DLLs) in the zip file. As these files rarely change, this shouldn't be a problem. This will be implemented following feedback on how your Windows systems deal with just the .exe update - thanks in advance!
NEW
-
[ENTER] and NumPad [ENTER] play the next media file. These can now be held down, ostensibly to rapidly flip through multiple images.
-
Ctrl-[ENTER] and Ctrl-NumPad [ENTER] do the opposite - play the previous media file - and can be held down for rapid repitition.
-
The release notes for the latest version can be viewed by clicking the new "What's New?" button in the About Box.
-
You must specify
autoUpdate=yes
in MinimalistMediaPlayer.conf -
The release notes for a release are downloaded [once] from Github and stored in a "releaseNotes" subfolder of your MMP installation.
-
Any screenshots included in the release notes will also be downloaded once only.
-
Links in the release notes can be clicked to open them in your browser. E.g...
- Both the About Box and the Release Notes windows can be closed with the [ESC]ape key.
Asset files
The "...full.zip" release file below contains everything you need to run Minimalist Media Player:
- MinimalistMediaPlayer.exe
- MediaInfo.dll
- libmpv-2.dll
- ffmpeg.exe
- rot.exe
Alternatively, if you already have these from a previous release, you can just download the program update:
MinimalistMediaPlayer_v2_2_2.zip
(I strongly recommend that you do not download this file from any source other than Github)
All comments and suggestions for additional functionality or to highlight operational issues will be well received over on the Discussions page.
Thanks for taking an interest in Minimalist Media Player!
