6. Configure PiHole

Bogdan Tudorache edited this page Nov 12, 2022 · 2 revisions

A. Set pi-hole as DNS

We must define the pi-hole's IP address as the only DNS entry on the router. I'm using a Ziggo router (as I live in the Netherlands and they are my service provider) steps will differ from router to router but the general idea is the same.

I. Log in your router administration panel (usually http://192.168.178.1 )

II. Go to Advanced Settings -> DHCP

Note: DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol

III. Disable DHCP

B. Enable DHCP in the pi-hole

I. Log in through the Admin panel

I have set my pi-hole with IP address:192.168.178.2 so we must log in through the web browser admin portal

http://192.168.178.2

Note: please be very careful where you store the password you are given, if you lose it you must re-install pihole

II. Go to Settings -> DHCP -> DHCP server enabled βœ…

I have also set the From/To IP ranges and the router IP address as per below.
